Blk B & D:

Many student were away last class so THESE students MUST learn from students who were present

HOW USE "AP DIV" under the INSERT pull down menu --- layout objects -- AP DIV.

AP DIVs act like a box to hold text or image or just a colour fill.

the BEAUTY of these boxes is that THEY CAN be LAYERED and CAN BE MOVED anywhere.

ALL students will be using them today in their testing websites.

to preview their work student click on the little globe icon.

by the end of the day student must have minimun 4-5 test web pages that are properly linked and have a return to home page link.

DREAMWEAVER IS FUSSY:

--- website folder must be on desktop (eg. local)

--- images and html files must be IN the folder!!!!

--- use short easy to identify names for images and html files.

      • to save the website drag the website folder TO THE STUDENT HOME DRIVE ...save to home drive!

      • to work on the website drag the website folder TO THE DESKTOP ...work locally!

---RE: Your summative Website...

Now is NOT the time to slack off.

2. New Work is on WIKI. Make sure you are up to date.
Today's work DUE at end of class:
Research (lookup & find out about) the following concepts....
- website architecture design (we'll focus on simple designs suitable for personal/artist/small business website... not huge database designs)
- website navigation design
- information hierarchy/hierarchies (ways to organize information graphically)
What does these terms refer to? Explain in your own words on your personal page. Include reference links/images to help illustrate : )

3. In class Challenges for those who have finished 2. above.... or... try looking these up & making notes of key steps for homework so we can try them out NEXT class....
- challenge 1: starting/launching dreamweaver (warning: doesn't look friendly & don't attempt this without tutorials 8 )
- challenge 2: insert a text box & type in a title (eg. My website)
- challenge 3: insert a picture (which must be saved in the website folder you create... use tutorial video... dreamweaver is very fussy about folder and file names and location.... VERY FUSSY)
- challenge 4: insert a URL link (eg. to our class wiki page)
- challenge 5: view the effects of your work so far by clicking the "little globe" icon to PREVIEW the work IN A BROWSER : )

Can you do take on these challenges?
Who will succeed?
I DARE you to surprise me... in a good way ; )

There might be incentives for those who do... hint hint ; )

NOTEs regarding lab 033:
